Privacy Policy
What VEZL collects, why we collect it, who it reaches and how to get rid of it. A safety app asks for more than most, so this page has to be specific.

This document is a structural placeholder. The headings are the ones the finished document needs, but the wording has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not binding on anyone. Replace the copy before submitting the app to the App Store or Google Play.
01Overview
This Privacy Policy is a placeholder describing what VEZL collects when you use the app or this website, why we collect it, who it is shared with and what control you have over it.
The short version, which the finished document should keep true: VEZL does not track you continuously.Location is shared when you raise an alert, when you choose to share it, or when a check-in you have set up runs — not in the background all day.
02Who we are
Placeholder for the legal entity that operates VEZL and acts as the data controller, its registered address and company number, and the contact point for privacy questions. Until then, write to hello@helphelphelp.app.
03Information we collect
Placeholder. The finished policy should list, category by category:
Information you give us
- Account details — name, email address, phone number, password.
- The Trusted Friends you add, and the groups you organise them into.
- Anything you send us through the contact form or by email, including support requests.
Information created by using the app
- Alerts you raise or respond to, and the time and outcome recorded against them.
- Location, in the circumstances described below.
- Device and diagnostic information — device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports.
Information from others
- The App Store or Google Play tells us that a subscription is active. Card details never reach VEZL.
04Location data
Placeholder, and the section a store reviewer will read most closely.
Location is used when:
- you raise an alert, so the people you chose can find you;
- you are volunteering as a Nearby Helper, so the app can tell whether an alert near you is one you could reach;
- you deliberately share your location with someone for a period.
Location permission is requested in the app and can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings. Placeholder text for precision, retention and how long a shared location stays visible goes here.
05How we use your information
Placeholder. Purposes to cover:
- Delivering alerts to your Trusted Friends and Nearby Helpers.
- Running check-ins and the safety features you have turned on.
- Creating and administering your account and subscription.
- Answering support requests.
- Keeping the Service secure, and investigating misuse such as false alerts.
- Understanding how features are used, so the app can be improved.
VEZL does not sell your personal information, and does not use your location for advertising.
07Legal bases for processing
Placeholder for the UK GDPR / EU GDPR bases: performance of the contract for account and alert features, consent for location and push notifications, legitimate interests for security and product improvement, and legal obligation where we must keep records. To be completed with counsel.
08How long we keep it
Placeholder. Each category needs its own period in the finished document. As a working outline:
- Account details — for as long as your account is open.
- Alert history and location attached to it — a limited period after the alert closes.
- Diagnostic and crash data — a short rolling window, then deleted.
- Billing and tax records — the period required by law, even after an account closes.
What survives account deletion, and for how long, is set out on Delete your account.
09How we protect your information
Placeholder. Cover encryption in transit and at rest, access controls within the team, and the fact that no system is completely secure. Also note how a breach would be reported and within what time.
10Your rights and choices
Placeholder. Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to withdraw consent you have given.
To use any of these rights, write to hello@helphelphelp.app. Deleting your account is self-service — see Delete your account.
You also have the right to complain to your data protection regulator. Placeholder for the named authority.
11Children
Placeholder. State the minimum age for an account, how a family account for a younger person works, and how a parent or guardian can review or delete that person’s information. This must match the age rating declared on both app stores.
12International transfers
Placeholder. Name the countries your data may be processed in and the safeguards used when it leaves your own — standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, and so on.
14Changes to this policy
Placeholder. We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect.
15Contact us
Privacy questions go to hello@helphelphelp.app, or through the contact form. Placeholder for the postal address and, if one is appointed, the data protection officer.
